Tiny Forest Caerphilly is Wales' very first community-led Tiny Forest, planted by local school pupils, community members and volunteers. In November 2021, we planted some 600 trees densely in an area the size of a tennis court. This was using planted method, called the Miyawaki Method. This gives the forest the potential to grow 10 times faster than ordinarily planted trees and to become 20 times more bio-diverse. Tiny Forest Caerphilly is made of some 40 native tree and shrub species, including a variety of fruit trees.

Tiny Forests improve air quality, mitigate climate change effects, reduce flooding, reduce noise pollution and provide valuable urban wildlife habitats. Being in nature reduces stress, improves physical and mental health and happiness.
Central to our design is a classroom area, with wooden benches and log seats. This can accommodate
20-30 individuals. A winding path enables study of the canopy, the forest floor, biodiversity and wildlife. Additional features include bug hotels, bird boxes and a bee mound. The Tiny Forest is perfect for contact with nature, outdoor learning, or as a serene meeting place. Come and enjoy the forest for free. Donations are always welcome in our box at the Old Library and will be used for the forest upkeep or for other local projects.
