Chernihiv Oblast is a region in northern Ukraine, known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and picturesque landscapes. Its cultural heritage includes ancient Rus' churches, Cossack traditions, and folk art. The city of Chernihiv holds historical significance.

Administrative Structure: The region is divided into 5 districts, 16 cities, 31 urban-type settlements, and 1,489 villages. The administrative center is the city of Chernihiv.
Demographics: As of January 1, 2022, the population of Chernihiv Oblast was approximately 959 thousand people. Due to Russian aggression, the population has significantly decreased.
Interesting ​Facts: Chernihiv is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine, known for its historical landmarks. Numerous nature reserves and national parks, such as the Mezinsky National Natural Park, are located in the region. Chernihiv region is a land with a rich cultural heritage, where unique examples of Ukrainian folk art have been preserved.
Russian Ukrainian War: In February-March 2022, Chernihiv Oblast became one of the main directions of the Russian offensive. The city of Chernihiv and other settlements in the region suffered significant destruction as a result of the Russian occupation and constant shelling. After the liberation of part of the Chernihiv region, numerous war crimes committed by the occupiers were discovered. As a result of the war, the region suffered enormous destruction and losses.
