Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is a region in central Ukraine, known for its metallurgical and machine-building enterprises, as well as scientific centres. Its cultural heritage includes Cossack traditions, industrial architecture, and literary circles.
Total Area: 31,914 km²
Administrative Structure: The region is divided into 7 districts, 20 cities, 46 urban-type settlements, and 1,437 villages. The administrative centre is the city of Dnipro.
Demographics: As of January 1, 2022, the population of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast was approximately 3.1 million people. Due to Russian aggression, the population has significantly decreased.
Interesting Facts: Dnipropetrovsk region is a land with developed industry, where large metallurgical and machine-building enterprises are located. Numerous nature reserves and national parks, such as the Dniprovsko-Orilskyi Nature Reserve, are located in the region. Dnipro is a city with a rich history, where numerous museums and historical sites are located.
Russian-Ukrainian War: From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has repeatedly been subjected to missile attacks by Russian forces. The cities of Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and other settlements in the region have suffered significant destruction as a result of constant shelling. The region has received a large number of internally displaced persons from the occupied territories. As a result of the war, the region suffered enormous destruction and losses.
