Kharkiv Oblast is a region in eastern Ukraine, known for its scientific and cultural centres, such as Kharkiv National University, as well as its historical heritage. Its cultural heritage includes Cossack traditions, and literary and artistic circles.
Total Area: 31,415 km²
Administrative Structure: The region is divided into 7 districts, 17 cities, 61 urban-type settlements, and 1,682 villages. The administrative center is the city of Kharkiv.

Demographics: As of January 1, 2022, the population of Kharkiv Oblast was approximately 2.6 million people. Due to Russian aggression, the population has significantly decreased.
Interesting Facts: Kharkiv is the second-largest city in Ukraine, known for its universities and research institutions.The National Natural Park "Homilshansky Forests", where unique natural complexes have been preserved, is located in the region. Kharkiv region is a land with a rich history, where the cultural traditions of different peoples intertwine.
Russian-Ukrainian War: Since 2014, Kharkiv Oblast has been subjected to shelling by Russian forces.Since February 24, 2022, Kharkiv Oblast has become one of the key arenas of hostilities. The city of Kharkiv and other settlements in the region have suffered significant destruction due to constant shelling by Russian forces. In the fall of 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a successful counteroffensive and liberated a significant part of the occupied territories of Kharkiv Oblast. Currently, a part of Kharkiv Oblast remains under the temporary occupation of Russian troops.
